Tara Hill – an ancient hill and archaeological complex in County Meath – the hill features over 30 visible monuments – mounds, enclosures, stones and fortifications.
„Places of Power” is a series of stories about Irish places of power – spaces where history intertwines with the energy of the earth, and where humans can hear more than silence. Each part explores a different place, showing that the memory of these places lives on within us too.
There are places you don't go for the views, but for the answer. To calm a trembling heart. For a sign that someone – or something – is watching. For me, that place is Tara.
When I first stood on its grass, I felt the earth beneath my feet breathing with me. It was as if time stopped for a moment, the world fell silent, and I could hear my own heart more clearly than ever before. Since then, I always return here when I need guidance, and I never leave empty-handed. It was here that I found a four-leaf clover. I wasn't looking for it – it found me. And then I realised that Tara doesn't work spectacularly. It works intimately. Like a hand's touch, resting on your shoulder the moment you need it most.
This hill is the heart of ancient Ireland. Here, kings, druids, warriors, and pilgrims gathered. Here, decisions were made that changed the course of history. For thousands of years, this was Ireland's most important spiritual centre, as well as the coronation site for kings. This land holds archives of human presence longer than any history written with ink. Archaeology reveals but a fragment of this story to us…
