The originator of the quarterly is Mariola Mastek, an educationalist, certified addiction psychotherapist, initiator of the Women's Symposium and co-founder of CKU – Centre for Counselling and Therapy in Dublin, who noticed how much space is lacking for authentic stories of people living abroad.
It was her inspiration and desire to create a space for dialogue that gave birth to the quarterly, in which individual destinies weave together into a larger narrative of community, memory, and identity.
Presenting authentic, sincere stories that carry the truth about the journey everyone has taken. We showcase both the everyday realities of emigration, with its challenges and longings, and the stories of those who have developed their talents abroad, achieved success, and become an inspiration to others. We promote Polish artists. We want their voices to be heard too, as it is they who tell the world about our Polish sensitivity.
Portraits of Emigration are a magazine where you can see that emigration is not only hardship, but also a bridge to realising your dreams. Our task is to showcase people who, through their perseverance, courage and passion, have reached the top, and in this way give strength and hope to others.
We believe in a world where people with migration experience feel understood, supported, and valued. Where their voices are heard, and their stories become inspiration and guidance for others.
Our vision is to build bridges between cultures, generations, and communities, so that diversity builds bonds, not walls. The quarterly is a source of strength and pride for the Polish community, showcasing its richness, talents, and achievements.
