A conversation about love with Dr. Ewa Woydyłło-Osiatyńska

Kasia Mikolajczyk: We'll be talking today about love and addiction. This is the main theme of the second edition of Emigration Portraits.

Dr Ewa WoydyłłoLove is a very cheerful topic. Let's try to sweeten the autumn moments with it.

I came across the statement: „Falling in love is a state that resembles euphoria, addiction and strong attachment at the same time.”.

All of this can happen at once. However, let's remember that there are many kinds of love. They depend on temperament, on whether falling in love happened suddenly or grew from friendship; they also depend on age. A fifteen-year-old experiences love differently than a mature person. Sometimes hormones dominate, sometimes friendship, reason, or even calculation. Love is a whole spectrum of experiences, not a single phenomenon.

Why is it said that love can act like an addiction? It always involves attachment. Unless we're talking about a fleeting love...
